Topics for international students

Our careers site aims to assist all students and graduates at King’s. However, this section addresses some of the questions that are most frequently asked by our international students:
  • Am I allowed to work while I am studying in the UK?
  • Can I stay in the UK to work when I have completed my course?
  • What do I need to do if, on completion of my current course, I want to continue my studies in the UK?
  • Where can I get advice and support while I am studying?
  • How can I find work in my own or another country at the end of my course?

The answers to the first three questions are not always straightforward and a number of changes are being implemented by the UK Government, so it is important to refer to specialist support and use definitive sources of information.

King’s has a Welfare and Advice service which provides support and information specifically for international students and, if required, can advise on the correct sources of further information.

Information for international students is also available on the Prospects website and at the Loughborough University Careers Centre.

If you are entitled to work while you are in the UK, our JobOnline, online vacancy database, provides a good starting point. If you sign up for King's Alert, you will be notified of new vacancies as they become available.

If you are considering work outside the UK at the end of your course, you should register for King’s International JobOnline (IJO).

Finally, you might want to take a look at our ideas on Finding Employers and Jobs or return to the other information available in the Students section.
