Scrutiny Panel, forums and working groups

Scrutiny panel, Sub-Committees and Forums

Students Groupwork

The College Education Committee has established a number of forums and working groups to assist the Committee with its decision-making and policy development.  These forums and groups convene to share experience and/or investigate specific themes and then advise the Committee accordingly.

College Education Committee Scrutiny Panel

The Committee has a standing scrutiny panel which is not a separate body but a group of the Committee's own members who meet to consider items related to programme approval, review and annual reporting and subsequently make recommendations to the main Committee.

The Committee also convenes additional scrutiny panels as needed.

Sub-Committees

The Committee has two Sub-Committees reporting to it, Postgraduate Research Students Sub-Committee and Taught Postgraduate Sub-Committee.  These sub-committees undertake work on behalf of the Committee and provide a report at each meeting.

Forums

Forums are normally established on a permanent basis to cover a specific area of responsibility and are often convened by a body with a closely aligned remit. Membership is likely to include representatives from each School.

Working groups

Working groups are normally established for a finite period of time to carry out a specific investigation and make recommendations, membership will be dictated by the remit of the group.
