Policies and practices are not used by everyone in the same way and do not effect everyone in the same way.
Equality Analysis is a tool which helps the College to understand the effects of its policies and practices on staff and students with diffferent protected characteristics, in order to identify any improvements or amendments that might be required.
Equality Analysis is a good practice measure as it will help the College to ensure that it provides world-class educational services to all students, and that all staff and students are appropriately supported to achieve their full potential. It will also help us to ensure we are meeting our duties under the Equality Act 2010 in helping us to gather evidence of the impact of our policies and practices on different protected groups.
The College's Equality Analysis Framework is currently being reiewed to ensure it is simple and easy to use and is fit for purpose. The new framework will be available here by early 2013.
A timetable for undertaking Equality Analysis on corporate policies is being agreed. Schools and Function Areas are also being encouraged to complete Equality Analysis of local policies as part of supporting the College to meet its Equality and Diversity Objectives 2012-16.
