Vice-Principal (Education)
Professor Eeva Leinonen
Eeva Leinonen has recently been appointed Vice-Principal (Education). She joins King’s College London from the University of Hertfordshire where she held the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor with a diverse portfolio including Learning and Teaching, Academic Quality Assurance and Enhancement, Student Experience and Academic Portfolio Development. She has also held a number of other academic leadership positions at Hertfordshire including Head of two academic schools, Humanities and Psychology, and Dean of the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences.
Her academic background is in linguistics and psychology. She is research active in the field of clinical linguistics with her published research focused on pragmatic impairments and functioning in different populations of language impaired children, including those on the autistic continuum. She is currently collaborating on a joint NIH project with colleagues in the US and Finland on a study exploring cross-linguistics markers of specific language impairment in children. Another current project is a longitudinal study of pragmatic processing in Finnish hearing impaired children with cochlear implants.
She is actively engaged in national debates relating to HE learning and teaching and quality assurance agendas. She recently chaired a HEFCE/QAA task group on Academic Quality and Employer Engagement in HE level learning and is a member of a number of national groups focusing on these agendas. She is a Trustee of the Schools Competition Act Settlement Trust.
