Objectives
The Lau China Institute provides a focal point for China-related activities across a range of academic disciplines.
Promoting an understanding of China that fully recognises its role as a global power, the Institute coordinates and develops China-related research capabilities and Chinese-focused programmes of study at King's, while also building links with Chinese organizations in education, the cultural and creative sectors, business and government.
Through these activities, and as part of the College's broader internationalisation strategy, the Institute aims to contribute to a growing interdisciplinary interest in China among both students and academics at King's.
Our objectives are:
-
to establish and promote King’s as a centre of excellence for the study of China and Chinese culture, to provide a focal point for PhD and post-PhD researches in the UK and in China and to host visiting distinguished scholars from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other parts of the world;
-
to co-ordinate and develop programmes in Chinese Political and Social Science, Governance, International Relations, Business, Religion, Philosophy and Culture.
-
to fund and facilitate research, teaching, publications, and scholarly collaboration between King’s and Chinese scholars and universities.
