King’s President & Principal, Professor Ed Byrne AC, has received an Honorary Professorship from leading Chinese institution and King’s partner, Peking University Health Science Centre (PUHSC).
PUHSC’s president, Professor Qimin Zhan, awarded Professor Byrne during a visit to Beijing this month. King’s is already working closely with PUHSC; in July 2015, the two universities launched a Joint Research Institute to support ground-breaking collaborative work in oncology, cardiovascular health, mental health, and dentistry. Collaborative health research with world-class partners is one of the many ways King’s aims to serve society and make the world a better place, in line with our Strategic Vision 2029 and our International Strategic Priorities.
The Principal’s Honorary Professorship is a tangible expression of the importance which PUHSC places on the relationship with King’s. With several future joint events planned, King’s continues to work closely with colleagues in Beijing.
Tayyeb Shah, Director of International at King’s said, ‘The conferment of a permanent honorary professorship for our Principal testifies to the strong and growing relationship between two of the world's most renowned medical research and education institutions.’
