globemaThe MA in Shakespeare Studies offers students the opportunity to study the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries in their critical, textual and theatrical contexts. Students on the programme examine the output of the London theatres in the period 1590-1640, analysing the play texts, companies, repertories, buildings, GL-red_128cultural contexts and the urban locations of the theatres.

MA in Early Modern English Literature: Text and Transmission

earlymodmaThe MA in Early Modern English Literature: Text & Transmission offers the opportunity to study early modern literary texts not only in light of recent critical approaches but also as material artefacts. Students on this programme learn how to work with a wide range of texts in their original editions and how to reconstruct and understand the contexts within which these texts BL_mawere first produced, read or performed. 

PhD in English Research
Postgraduate research in Shakespeare Studies and Early Modern Literature with the focus on three key areas: in the original circumstances and historical contexts for the production of Shakespeare’s works; in the nature of Shakespearean texts and the reproduction and transmission of those texts; and in the subsequent analysis, adaptation and appropriation of Shakespeare around the world.
