SHANDYFEST!

An exceeding good day to celebrate Laurence Sterne's 300th Birth-Day with talks, performances, ingenuity and fun.




 
So far the programme will include talks on:

Sterne & Music
Sterne & Animals
Sterne & Cervantes
Sterne & Caricature
Sterne's Letters to Eliza
Sterne's wit & conviviality
his philosophy & his language
Sterne's post-mortem perambulations
{courtesy of a dastardly gang of London grave-robbers}
as well as Uncle Toby's pre-occupation with military manoeuvres
and prosecuting sieges
also the extraordinary marbl'd and BLACK pages in Tristram Shandy 

&

a practical demonstration of the miraculous process of paper-marbling by Artist Jane Wildgoose

as well as a compleat performance by Actor Stephen Oxley of an infamous rarely perform'd Entertainment abridg'd from Tristram Shandy itself. 

The day is expected to start early and end late, with many speakers, and limited seating. So please book early!
