The Modern Language Centre, in collaboration with colleagues from the Department of German, the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and the India Institute, will explore the treatment of themes of transformation and metamorphosis in German, Hindi and Latin American Literature and performing arts. Over three consecutive evenings, you will be invited to attend sessions focusing on examples of metamorphosis in German Literature through, for example readings from Kafka’s Metamorphosis, on the adaptive power of Latin American myth to modernity though dance, and on the transformation through ages of Indian deities into human form in response to humanity's needs through visuals and texts.
The three events in the series are:
Tuesday 16 October - looking at la movida and an illustrated talk by Mexican Visual Artist Tupac Martir
Wednesday 17 October - German - The Electric Alphabet - talk by Jeremy Adler
Thursday 18 October - Hindi - presented by Eleni Markou, coordinator for less-taught languages
