Dr Mucignat was awarded a PhD in Comparative Literature by King’s College London in 2009. She holds a BA and MA in Italian and Comparative Literature from the University of Bologna, where she was a member of the Collegio Superiore.
Dr Mucignat's research interests include:

the novel in 19th century Europe

literary geography; the idea of space in narrative

the Romantic myth of Italy

modern Italian literature
Dr Mucignat wrote her doctoral thesis on spatiality in a group of European novels of the 19th century, including Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park, Stendhal’s The Red and the Black, and Alessandro Manzoni’s I Promessi sposi. She would be interested in supervising students in any of the above or related areas.
