Andreia Carvalho is from Lisbon, Portugal, where she graduated in History and completed an MA in Early Modern Portuguese History at the New University of Lisbon. She is currently in her second year as a PhD student in Digital Humanities, working on a prosopographical study of the Portuguese Court during the reign of John III (r. 1521-d. 1557), under the supervision of Harold Short.
Before coming to London she worked at the Centre for Overseas History (New University of Lisbon). She also worked for the Portuguese Museums Network, a department of the Portuguese Museums Institute.
Her main research interests are Computing for Historical Studies, Prosopography, Social History and History of the Portuguese Empire.
