William Garrood graduated in Modern History from Oxford, where he later took an MSt in Byzantine Studies. Since graduating, William has worked for Ofcom and L.E.K. Consulting and currently works for the BBC full time.
He began his PhD (part time) in 2007 under the supervision of Charlotte Roueche (BMGS), Willard McCarty and John Bradley (DDH). He is primarily working on the fifth century historian Socrates Scholasticus, compiling a prosopographical database of Socrates' /Ecclesiastical History /and exploring the role and evolution of prosopography, with reference to the ecclesiastical historians of the four and fifth centuries and the ecclesiastical politics of the period.
His main research interests are prosopography, the early church, Late Antique and Byzantine history, and historiography.
