Reconnecting Sloane: texts, images, objects

A project that explores the history and significance of Sir Hans Sloane’s collections within a number of contexts and across various disciplines.  Three inter-linked Collaborative Doctoral Awards, funded by the AHRC, will address Sloane’s contribution to knowledge as a man of letters, physician, naturalist, traveller, historian and collector.

The project aims to reconnect the various parts of Sloane’s collection (dispersed between the British Library, the British Museum and the Natural History Museum) through a structured programme of collaborative interdisciplinary research between King's College, Queen Mary University and three of London's major national museums and libraries.
