An illuminated talk by Adriana Díaz Enciso
Where and, most importantly, what is William Blake’s Golgonooza? Artists, scholars and Blake’s devotees have wondered for generations.
We know Golgonooza is a city. We know it is a vision of London and a reflection of Jerusalem. But is it a geographical space without or a visionary space within us? The Blake Society is setting out on a journey of revelation: to bring to light Blake’s Golgonooza holy city of Art and Imagination in the streets of what Blake called Spiritual Fourfold London.
This illuminated talk is meant to be an introduction to our project, and an invitation to remember that the London we see every day and visionary London are—as human existence in its whole—one and the same.
Adriana Díaz-Enciso is a Mexican author living in London. Her latest novel, Ciudad doliente de Dios, is inspired on Blake’s Prophetic Poems, and all its characters are in a quest to find Golgonooza. She’s a Trustee of the Blake Society.
