On 1 March the King’s College London European Society supported by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Law and Governance, had the honour to host Ms Viviane Reding, Vice President of the European Commission, responsible for Fundamental Human Rights and Citizenship, in the recently inaugurated Moot Court of Somerset House East Wing.  She discussed the pressing need for a more integrated Union and pointed out the lack of trust of European citizens with European Institutions. She also defined the ‘European Year of Citizens 2013’ to bridge the gap between Europe and its peoples in the 21st century to ultimately achieve more efficient political projects. The talk was then followed by a question and answer session, moderated by Sir Francis Jacobs, former Advocate General at the European Court of Justice.
