Rated best for the study of film in the UK by the Guardian Universtiy Guide 2012 and 2013, the Film Studies department offers a single honours BA (the only single honours degree in film studies taught by a dedicated film studies team in central London); in addition to programmes in conjunction with other humanities departments.

Postgraduate research programme: FILM STUDIES phd

We offer a PhD programme that recruits students working on cutting-edge research projects and supervised by a faculty of leading experts in the field. Our specialisms range across European, American, and World Cinema; cultural history and critical theory, in particular the relationship between film and other disciplines such as philosophy, psychoanalysis, literature, geography, and art.
