BA in film studies

Rated best for the study of film in the UK by the Guardian League Tables 2011, the Film Studies department offers a single honours BA (the only single honours degree in film studies taught by a dedicated film studies team in central London); in addition to courses in conjunction with other humanities departments.

MA IN FILM STUDIES

A leading MA course that builds on the research strengths of its distinguished faculty to offer a choice of modules that examine the wide range of cinemas and approaches to studying film.
This leading MA also features a new and unique pathway in Film and Philosophy from September 2012.

PHD IN FILM STUDIES

We offer a PhD programme that recruits students working on cutting-edge research projects and supervised by a faculty of leading experts in the field. Our specialisms range across European, American, and World Cinema; cultural history and critical theory, in particular the relationship between film and other disciplines such as philosophy, psychoanalysis, literature, geography, and art.

SCREEN STUDIES GROUP

Film Studies at King’s College London is part of one of the world’s largest networks of screen media scholars. The Screen Studies Group is a major University of London initiative promoting research, teaching, and public debate across the colleges of the university.

SUmmer school 2012

As part of Summer School 2012 Dr Maurizio Cinquegrani will be running the London and Film short course offering the perfect introduction to London and to British cinema.
Screenings each morning are followed by afternoon seminars; London walks and visits to key institutions and film locations.

research SEMINAR SERIES

The department runs an energizing series of research seminars that take place regularly throughout term time. The Film Studies research community of graduates, post-doctoral students, and staff, creates a warm environment for stimulating discussion in response to papers by guest speakers who showcase their latest research.
