New publication - Dr Craig Moyes
Dr Craig Moyes, Lecturer in the Department of French has recently had his book Furetière’s Roman bourgeois and the Problem of Exchange published by Legenda.

Dr Emily Butterworth wins Natalie Zemon Davis Prize
Dr Emily Butterworth has won the Natalie Zemon Davis prize for the best essay published annually in the Toronto journal Renaissance and Reformation / Renaissance et Réforme.

Sévigné studentship
The Department of French is delighted to announce the establishment of a Sévigné studentship for one full-time student on the MA in French Literature and Culture in 2013-14. A further award will be available for 2014-15.
Interim Head of School
Professor Simon Gaunt, Professor of French Language and Literature has been appointed as interim Head of School for Arts & Humanities. Professor Gaunt takes up his post on 1 January 2013 for 12 months.

NSS Results 2012
The Department of French is pleased to annouce that 93% of final year students in 2011-12 were satisfied with the quality of their course.
New publication - Dr Sanja Perovic
Dr Sanja Perovic has recently had her book The Calendar in Revolutionary France -Perceptions of Time in Literature, Culture, Politics published by Cambridge Universiry Press.

The Department of French is pleased to annouce that three new members of staff will be joining during the course of the 2012-13 academic year.
Malcolm Bowie Prize
Dr Andrew Counter who joins the department in September has been awarded the Society for French Studies 2011 Malcolm Bowie prize.
Adam Translation Project
In the academic year 2012-13 the Department will launch a project, in conjunction with Christoher Mourant, a PhD student in the Department of German, to translate a series of articles by prominent French authors of the 20th century included in the bilingual review ADAM.

Department of French academic awarded Teaching Excellence Award
The Department of French is pleased to announce that Dr Jo Malt, Senior Lecturer has been awarded a King’s Teaching Excellence Award.
King's College London & IGRS win AHRC award for PhD skills programme in Modern Languages and Film
The Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies has been successful in obtaining a £38k award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, in the framework of their Skills Development Call. The IGRS will be working closely with colleagues from King's College London on this project.

Careers Speed Meet
A Careers Speed Meet was held on 6 March for all students in the Departments of French, European & International Studies, German and Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies.
New AHRC grant - Dr Hector Kollias Queer Theory in France
The project seeks to interrogate the relatively late arrival of queer theory in France, particularly given the fact that the influence of French post-war thought in the development of queer theory in the American and British intellectual context is undeniable.

Technology enables cross-channel student translation project
A cross-channel collaborative project between the Department of French and the Université du Maine in France is using innovative technology to help develop collaboration and community skills and prepare students for the social workplace.

Reading Proust
This year a new experimental blog project, linked to the final-year module on Proust, gives students and staff the opportunity to share their thoughts on the experience of reading a great monument of European literature, A la recherche du temps perdu.
