Dr Sanja Perovic

Research

Sanja Perovic researches 18th century literature and thought with a specific focus on the relations between the Enlightenment and Revolution. She is currently completing a book, Untamable Time: Creating the World Anew in Revolutionary France, which examines the unique role of the revolutionary calendar in constructing the revolutionary experience of time. This interest in the temporal extends also to relations between the impact of religious concepts on secular events, the subject of a forthcoming edited volume, Secular and Sacred Agency in Early Modern France: Fragments of Religion.  She has published or forthcoming articles on seventeenth and eighteenth century French theatre, encyclopedisms and various aspects of revolutionary culture. Her new project considers the role of early modern French theatre in constructing history as a universal moral tribunal or world court. Sanja welcomes students interested in any aspect of the interdisciplinary eighteenth century
