Assessment: One 7,000-word essay (100%).
Module description
The Extended Essay is compulsory for all Single Honours German and "German 'with'..." students. It provides the invaluable opportunity for students to produce a substantial piece of written academic work based on independent, but supervised, study. It is worth 30 credits and is a real chance to extend and deepen your exploration of an area of your academic studies in which you have developed a particular interest.
The topic of the Extended Essay must fall within the range of subjects taught by staff in the Department, but the Extended Essay must contain a significant proportion of independent work beyond that done in other modules. There will be a session at the start of the year for all finalists taking the Extended Essay to explain the process in further detail.
For further details about the Extended Essay (including regulations, presentation, and submission) please see the guidelines which are available to download.
