Staff research
Research in the German Department at King’s College London was rated outstanding in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Judging by the proportion of our research placed in the top two categories, we are the top-rated department in the UK, and we have consistently been the highest-rated Department in London since records began. Our research has been judged to be ‘world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour.’
This outstanding research record is powered by the intense research culture in the German Department, where staff engage in dialogue with each other, and with their research students, producing top-quality results, across an exceptionally wide range of topics: from medieval and Early Modern periods, through to the most contemporary of subjects.
Our record is not only due to the research outputs of each of our staff members, but also our commitment to collaborative research projects, especially with targeted partners of excellence around the world. This level of excellence can be seen by the number of awards made to the Department to pursue its innovative and world-leading research agenda.
