Modern Language Scholarships

Note: this competition is now closed - decisions on award holders will be made in the next few weeks.

The School of Arts and Humanities is pleased to offer scholarships to the value of £6,000 each to students studying for a Masters degree in one of the following:

MA German and Comparative Literature
MRes in German and Comparative Literature
MA French Literature and Culture
MA Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies
MA Modern Greek Studies

These scholarships have been created to celebrate the College’s strengths in the Modern Languages, which include some of the largest MA programmes in their field. The studentships are open to all students who have made an admissions application before 17:00GMT on 15 June 2011, though students who have already been selected for an AHRC award will not be considered. The awards are tenable for one year only and cannot be deferred. They are open to students of any nationality.

All admissions applications supported by 2 academic references and undergraduate transcript via https://myapplication.kcl.ac.uk/ submitted before 17:00GMT on 15 June 2011 will automatically be considered for this scholarship.


Am I eligible?

You are eligible for the award if:

  • you have submitted an admissions application supported by 2 academic references and undergraduate transcript via https://myapplication.kcl.ac.uk/ before 17:00GMT on 15 June 2011 to one of the following: MA German and Comparative Literature; MRes in German and Comparative Literature; MA French Literature and Culture; MA Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies.
  • you are planning to commence a postgraduate taught masters degree in one of the abovementioned programmes at King’s College London for the 2011/12 academic session;
  • you are expected to meet the College’s usual requirements regarding language proficiency and the quality of the first degree (namely a minimum of a 2:1 – upper second class – degree).
