Dr Adam Sutcliffe

On Thursday 22 March at 9 am (repeated at 9 pm), Dr Adam Sutcliffe appeared on In Our Time on BBC Radio Four, discussing the eighteenth-century German Jewish philosopher Moses Mendelssohn with host Melvyn Bragg and two other guests. Mendelssohn played an important role in German debates on metaphysics, aesthetics and religious toleration, and was also the key initiator of the Jewish Enlightenment. The programme explores his formative influences, relationships, major works and posthumous legacy, focusing on his unique prominence both in the Jewish world and in the broader intellectual life of his time.
