Biography
Dr Pearce took an MA in Latin American Studies (1994) and Ph.D. in Spanish American History (1998) at the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Liverpool, one of the five ‘Parry Centres’ established in the 1960s to promote the study of Latin America in the UK. Before joining King’s in 2008, he taught for five years at the School of Comparative American Studies at the University of Warwick, and the Department of History and Heritage at Nottingham Trent University. From 2008 to 2010, he was employed jointly by King’s and the Institute for the Study of the Americas (successor to the Institute of Latin American Studies, another of the Parry Centres, and part of the School of Advanced Study of the University of London). Now entirely the property of King’s College, he is a member of both the Departments of History and of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies
