How to apply

You apply using the links on the College Prospectus Application page for Liberal Arts - but you should read the information below first.

What are we looking for?

The key criterion for entry is academic ability, but we will also be looking for evidence of your motivation to study, your communication skills and your understanding of the programme. In addition, we will take into account your involvement in relevant extra-curricular activities and volunteering.

Additional Personal Statement

Because we recognise that you may also be applying through UCAS to single or combined honours programmes, applicants to Liberal Arts are asked to submit an extra personal statement. This should be uploaded to the admissions portal within three weeks of submitting your UCAS application. You will receive instructions on how to upload your personal statement when we receive your UCAS application.

Please note: your application cannot be considered unless you submit the additional statement within three weeks of submitting your UCAS application.

You will be asked to write 500 words which explain how studying for the BA Liberal Arts would fit into your academic interests and future plans, and why you think you would be a successful student on this course. This will be read by the admissions tutor in conjunction with your UCAS statement. Please write in continuous prose and do not use subheadings or bullet points.

What if I have only applied to study Liberal Arts?

The additional personal statement is to give you a chance to tailor your statement to the BA Liberal Arts course, as we recognise that your UCAS statement may be written with a specific subject in mind. If, however, you think you have covered everything you wish to tell us in your UCAS statement, you can submit the same statement again, and you will not be penalised.

Interviews

We will selectively interview applicants for this programme. If we invite you to interview, we will give you as much notice as possible and will ask you to confirm your attendance. Overseas applicants will be given the option of a Skype or phone interview.
