Dr Knox holds an Early Career Fellowship from the Leverhulme Trust. Before coming to King’s, she was a research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy, and before that, studied for her DPhil (and BA and BPhil) in the Philosophy faculty at the University of Oxford.

Research interests

Her research mostly focuses on Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Physics, particularly explanation, relationships between scientific theories, and spacetime physics. Her project for the Leverhulme trust, “Emergent Spacetimes”, will look at the conceptual problems raised by theories of quantum gravity that do not appear to involve spacetime at the fundamental level. Other past and current work include papers on the interpretation of general relativity and variant gravitational theories, the role of idealization and abstraction in inter-theoretic relations and the nature of geometrical explanation.
