Expertise and engagement
Her research mostly focuses on Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Physics, particularly explanation, relationships between scientific theories, and spacetime physics. Her project for the Leverhulme trust, “Emergent Spacetimes”, will look at the conceptual problems raised by theories of quantum gravity that do not appear to involve spacetime at the fundamental level. Other past and current work include papers on the interpretation of general relativity and variant gravitational theories, the role of idealization and abstraction in inter-theoretic relations and the nature of geometrical explanation.
