Why Theology & Religious Studies at King's?
The world we live in cries out for religious literacy. We need to be able to understand and interpret the diverse religious beliefs and practices around us, and to foster understanding and respect.
King's is home to one of the top 10 departments in the UK for Theology & Religious Studies (The Complete University Guide 2013). Located centrally in the heart of London, the College is ideally placed for sharing in, and playing an active role in, the academic and cultural life of the nation's capital.
The Department of Theology & Religious Studies (TRS) at King's offers a unique integration of Humanities and Social Science disciplines as a framework for the study of religions. We pride ourselves on both our teaching and research. TRS at King's is consistently recognized as having its place among the very top Departments in the nation.
-
100% of TRS students were satisfied with our teaching, and with the intellectual stimulation of their course. 98% also noted the enthusiasm of our staff for what they teach. (National Student Survey 2011).
-
We are among the top-seven Theology & Religious Studies departments in the UK for research excellence (RAE 2008)
We are also very proud of our formal affiliation with the Middle East & Mediterranean Studies Programme, which is by any measure one of the most dynamic and successful programmes of its kind in the UK, and which, while departmentally linked to TRS, carries its own separate degree-granting structure.
