About us
The Wolfson Centre for Age-Related Diseases was established in 2004, and is directed by Strategy is developed by Professor Pat Doherty. Our research is focused neurodegeneration, regeneration, neurogenesis and pain. We are fully equipped for all aspects of cell and molecular biology, and have wide expertise in a range of animal models. We have also recently established a “Neuroscience Drug Discovery Unit” to develop new medicines.
The Wolfson has established an “open innovation” partnership with Pfizer that bases a small team of Pfizer scientists within our labs to conduct academic research in pain biology. This integration of academic and industry teams will lead to synergies in research strategies that deliver new ideas and innovations for healthcare and patient welfare. The initiative will allow the College to pursue its commitment to translational research with pharmaceutical partners of excellence, supported by highly productive interactions between scientists within the CARD and colleagues within King’s Business.
Strategy is developed by Doherty, Ballard, McMahon and Bevan.
