Welcome Fair underway!
Activities galore at the 2011 KCLSU Welcome Fair!
Thousands of King’s students have thronged to the Barbican Centre for this year’s Welcome Fair, organised by King’s Students’ Union (KCLSU). The fair showcased a wide variety of stalls operated by different societies and clubs, College departments and local and national companies.
The Welcome Fair is open to all students of the College; international students, postgraduates, returning, and of course, new students. It is a great annual opportunity for students to sign up to societies, volunteering groups and upcoming events at the College.
KCLSU Vice President of Academic Affairs, Simi Smith said: ‘Coming to university can fill students with excitement and equally nerves. From my experience I found that a good way to feel confident in a new environment is to explore and ask questions; and that is what the KCLSU Welcome Fair is for. Students have a taste of student life and a chance to take up a variety of opportunities to get involved. Basically, the College wants students to feel home at King’s!’
KCLSU Vice President of Student Activities and Facilities, Holly Walsh added: ‘The KCLSU Welcome Fair is one of the best ways to show what King’s is all about. From the Netball club to Harry Potter society, KCLSU has something for everyone. We had almost 10,000 students coming through the doors last year and we hope to exceed that number this year.’
KCLSU President, Hannah Barlow commented: ‘The fair is exciting, fun, and displays the vibrant community that we have here at the College. KCLSU Welcome Fair starts the student year with a bang!’
