The Centre of Flexible Learning was established in 2007 to bring together innovative technology enhanced learning (TEL) developments and Distance Learning Initiatives.
The Unit of Distance Learning has now expanded its activities to support the College and new courses are under development including online core CPD for dental staff and new Masters programmes.
Two major TEL research projects have been part of the research activities:
-
The prize winning UDENTE (Universal Dental E-learning) and
-
A leading robotics programme hapTEL™ (Haptics in Technology Enhanced Learning).
The Centre is an academic hub that leads on innovative TEL for the Education Academy of King’s Health Partners and works with other pioneers including the Simulation Centre (SAIL), School of Education (3D worlds), Institute of Psychiatry and King’s Learning Institute.
An international Innovations Colloquium hosted with Brescia University in North Italy keeps the Centre and its collaborators sharply focused at the cutting edge of education.
