Dental Institute External Strategy
Welcome to the home page of the Dental Institute External Activities. The Dental Institute is committed to increasing our international linkages and experience for our staff and students.
All undergraduate students are encouraged to take an elective during their final year and partnerships with schools around the world help to facilitate this, and on a reciprocal basis, so that we can receive an equal number of students too. Staff sabbaticals are an important part of our strategy and lead to much-improved opportunities for collaborative research as well as experience, and of course we wish to encourage students worldwide to take the opportunity of graduate taught master's or research studentships with us. The development of distance learning degrees allow extensive worldwide linkage with the Dental Institute.
The Dental Institute has over 7,000 alumni also spread around the world, and we wish to make use of their experience and friendship to welcome our students when travelling abroad, and to extend the knowledge and influence of the Dental Institute. Electives, sabbaticals and research studentships all have to be funded and an important part of our external strategy is to raise awareness and funds to implement them.
Achievements of our alumni in dentistry, research and other fields are considerable and we intend to better recognise this and set up worldwide alumni associations.
