From Empire to Nationhood
This online exhibition explores the legacy of the Second World War. The story of the Cold War is set in the context of a decline of empire and rise of the nation state.
The exhibition features dozens of fascinating photographs and documents from the Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives, King's College London. Its collections cover all aspects of warfare in the twentieth century including those of international importance and include papers such as those of FM Lord Alanbooke, who led the British war effort throughout much of the Second World War.
King's College Archives acknowledges the contribution of UN Photo, the Harry S Truman Presidential Library and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland.
Other online exhibitions prepared by Archives and Corporate Records Services include an exploration of the life and career of the Duke of Wellington and on the early history of King's College London.
