Sport has been central to student life at King's College since
its inception. Sporting clubs have also been active at Guy's Hospital
Medical School and other institutions with which King's has now
merged. At the same time key discoveries at King's have led to important
advances in the science of sport.
This exhibition celebrates these breakthroughs - understanding
how muscles function, thereby allowing athletes to run faster, the
physiology of the human body and developments in the science of
nutrition that are continuing to improve sporting endurance, and
finally examining the ongoing ethical implications of the drug testing
of athletes.
Supported by ALM London and proudly endorsing London
as the Olympic city in 2012, the following pages also
look beyond the laboratory to celebrate the sporting a
chievements of members of the College, including noted
Olympians.
