This exhibition, produced by Archives and Corporate Records
Services, explores the life of one of the most extraordinary
military commanders in British history: Arthur Wellesley,
1st Duke of Wellington. It describes his career in the Army
leading to the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo
in 1815, and examines his achievements in civilian life, not
least of which was his prominent role in helping to found
King's College London between 1828 and 1829.
The exhibition features portraits, illustrations and photographs
with accompanying text and complements a display of pictures
and manuscripts on Wellington and King's on show in the main
entrance to the Strand building from 30 April until 10 June.
