Global Justice Series - A Dialogue with Young Lawyers
DOMINIKA ŠVARC, Guest Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, will be giving the second talk in the Global Justice Series. The talk is titled:
“Militarization of Terrorist Offences: Prosecution of Terrorist Suspects before the US Military Commissions”
In her talk, Dominika will critically evaluate the recently refurbished system of military commissions in the US in terms of its compatibility with established standards of international humanitarian and human rights law. While highlighting the most important improvements of the new system in comparison with the 2006 Military Commissions Act, Dominika will also expose its main remaining flaws and try to assess its normative impact on the traditional understanding of the principle of civilian immunity from military prosecution.
The event will take place at the Franklin Wilkings Building (1.10) from 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Everyone is warmly invited to the reception afterwards.
