Dominic Hatje, a second-year law student at King's, has won a national film competition run by PRS for Music.
The student filmmaking competition ‘Scene>>Heard’ challenged student filmmakers to create a 90-second cinematic interpretation of a famous musical quote, song lyric or song title. Inspired by the Shakespearean quote ‘If Music Be the Food Of Love, Play On’, Dominic made the winning film The Food of Love which can be viewed on the PRS for Music web pages.
On winning Dominic said: ‘Words can't express how happy I am. I intend to put the £1,000 prize money towards a new camera.'
Dominic also won a film competition run by the Careers Service last year. He directed the Induction Day video that is shown to all new students at King's. The prize for winning was work experience on the set of Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang with Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson.
After finishing his degree, Dominic hopes to produce and direct his first feature film.
PRS Music is responsible for handling the licensing of music for film and television.
