As part of ICPS’ programme of co-operation with Turkmenistan, a senior delegation visited the United Kingdom during the week of 22 February. The group, which included the Deputy Minister of the Interior, the Deputy General Prosecutor, the Head of the Prison Service and the Head of Institute of Democracy and Human Rights had a series of meetings and visits to learn more about the operation of criminal justice in England and Wales. The visit began with a discussion at the International Centre for Prison Studies about the principles of human rights within the criminal justice system and it ended with a second meeting at ICPS to assess what the delegation had observed in the course of its visit.
The delegation can be seen above visiting HMP Styal accompanied by ICPS Associate Anton Shelupanov (far left).
