INCREASED FEES FOR COPIES

The Coroners' Records (Fees for Copies) Rules 2002 (SI 2002 No 2401) have increased the fees payable for copies of documents supplied by coroners. They replaced the Coroners' Records (Fees for Copies) Rules 1997 (SI 1997 No 2544) as from 1 November 2002. There are two types of copy - those produced as facsimiles (such as photocopies) and those produced otherwise (ie by reproducing the substance without necessarily copying the exact form). The former are charged by the page, the latter by the number of words involved. The new rules were sent to coroners as an enclosure to Home Office Circular No 54 of 2002, which replaces Circular No 63 of 1997.
