HOME OFFICE RESEARCH STUDY NO 241: EXPERIENCING INQUESTS

The Home Office Research, Development and Statistics ("RDS") Directorate in November 2002 published a study on "Experiencing Inquests". This was designed to explore the perspective of family members on the coroner service, particularly the inquest. The research was carried out by members of Bristol University Law Department, and involved observing 81 inquests in 9 coroners' districts, beginning in Autumn 2000 (anonymity has been preserved in the publication by changing names).

The study is available as a soft back book (136 pages) from RDS Directorate, Room 275, Home Office, 50 Queen Anne's Gate, London SW1H 9AT, tel 020 7273 2084, fax 020 7222 0211, email publications.rds@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk or from the RDS website.
