Chapter 17: Major Disasters

The material formerly found here is now contained in the first supplement to Jervis, published by Sweet & Maxwell in November 2003, with ISBN 0 421 858 907.

The Civil Contingencies Bill was introduced into the House of Lords on 25 May 2004, and had its second reading there on 5 July 2004.

17-03 The Home Office and the Cabinet Office in May 2004 jointly issued "Guidance on Dealing with Fatalities in Emergencies", which "consolidates, reaffirms and updates what should be considered and taken into account when developing plans for dealing with fatalities in emergencies". This is available on the UK Resilience website.

Also in May 2004 the second edition of Stategic National Guidance on the Decontamination of People exposed to CBRN Sustances or Material was published.

There is a new Government website called Preparing For Emergencies. This gives access to the emergency planning booklet being distributed to every household in the UK.
