The Researcher Development Unit in the Graduate School has responsibility for providing and co-ordinating training and development opportunities for postgraduate research students and research staff.

IT training for postgraduates
ISS Training and development provides IT and information skills training for graduate students.
You will need your Athens username and password to access many electronic resources, for example, journals and databases. Please view the ISS webpages for further information about Athens account set-up and use.
Graduate research students can now access a dedicated portfolio of IT and iSkills courses as part of the Researcher Development Programme on Skills Forge. An example of a course designed specifically for graduate researchers is 'Word for long documents'. To view courses and book online visit Skills Forge . You may also want to contact your Information Specialist if you want a personal introduction to ISS services. From your initial literature survey to managing your references with bibliographic software, writing up your thesis or getting your journal article published and available on open access, the Research & Learning Liaison team of Information Specialists in ISS is there to help.

File transfer service extended to Postgraduate research students
This service, offers a way of transferring files, which for reasons of size or file type can’t be sent by email. Now graduate researchers as well as staff can upload single files, up to 500MB in size, and automatically send an email message to a maximum of 25 recipients (including researchers external to King’s) notifying them that they can download the file by clicking on a link in the notification message.

King’s Learning Institute
King’s Learning Institute (KLI) provides training for students and staff that teach; they offer programmes in Academic Practice, for further information view the Learning & Teaching Prospectus.
