Research projects
The Centre for e-Research takes a leading role in a wide-ranging portfolio of national and international projects.
Projects are funded by the European Commission, the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). The Centre has attracted over £4 million of research income since 2008.
We also conduct several projects in partnership with other departments at King’s and at centres of expertise in the UK and internationally.
Recent grants and awards
JISC: £673,269 for Digital Exposure of English Place-names (DEEP) to digitise the Survey of English Place-Names and make its 4 million forms available via the JISC-funded Unlock service, along with vigilantly curated crowd-sourced contributions from the expert community (Nov 2011-Aug 2013)
JISC: £138,087 for Linking Parliamentary Records through Metadata (LIPARM) to define and implement a unified metadata strategy for historical and contemporary parliamentary digitisation projects (Nov 2011-Nov 2013)
AHRC: £231,868 for Content Models for Enhancement and Sustainability (CMES) to develop an extensible framework for representing and managing broad categories of complex digital collections produced by arts and humanities research (Oct 2010-Nov 2011)
EU: €7m for European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) to support the European Holocaust research community through online access to dispersed sources relating to the Holocaust all over Europe and Israel (Oct 2010-Sep 2014)
