Research Grants and Contracts
The Research Grants & Contracts Division handles all administrative, financial and legal aspects of externally-funded research project in the College including the Institute of Psychiatry. It also negotiates agreements which underpin or facilitate academic research taking place.
The Division is headed by Paul Labbett, the Director of Research Grants and Contracts, and has four sections. It is part of the College’s Professional Services Administration.

Pre award section
Provides staff costs and associated indirect costs, estates and overhead costs for research proposals; approves all funding applications prior to submission; accepts grants awarded; drafts and negotiates legal terms for funding; negotiates collaboration/consortium agreements; signs research contracts on behalf of the College
EU research funding office
The EU research funding office undertakes the same functions as the Pre-award section for research funded by the European Commission.
Post award section
The Post-award section is responsible for financial administration of research projects, including invoicing, payment profiling, authorisation of staff recruitment, creation of account codes and financial reporting.
Enabling agreements team
Provides specialist support to negotiate agreements which enable research at the College but which do not provide financial support, including Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Confidentiality Agreements (CDAs or NDAs) and Teaming Agreements.
