Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC)
Innovations Partnership Schemes (IPS and mini-IPS)
The Innovations Partnership Schemes (IPS and mini-IPS) are designed to transfer technology and expertise developed through STFC funding to the marketplace in partnership with industry and other academic disciplines. A full IPS project provides a maximum project value of £150k per annum, over a period not exceeding three years. Mini-IPS provides the facility to make an application for a small project, up to £150k over a period not exceeding 12 months.
There are 4 closing dates per year in January, April, July and October for IPS schemes. Mini IPS applications can be made at any time. Applications must be submitted via Je-S.
Follow-on Funding
Follow-on Funding provides financial support for STFC funded researchers at the very early or pre-seed stage of turning research outputs into a commercial proposition. Unlike the other research councils, in STFC, industry partners are not allowed. Applicants with an industry partner should use the mini-IPS or IPS scheme.
Follow on Funding can be used for further scientific and technical development, for improving an intellectual property position and for researching into the market for the new product or process.
Proposals should not exceed a total value of £110K at 100% of full Economic Costs (FEC). Under present arrangements for FEC, Research Councils will award 80% of the total grant value. Awards will not exceed 12 months duration.
The most recent closing date was April 2011, the next closing date has not been announced. Applications must be submitted via Je-S.
