Planning your project

If you want to turn your research idea into a project that can attract external funding you will need to start planning at an early stage. Funders have different priorities and requirements for grant applications, so you should read the guidelines for the scheme for which you're applying carefully before putting together the application.

These sections have been constructed with Research Council applications in mind in particular. Nevertheless, at the very start of the planning process, it may be useful to think in terms of addressing the following general questions.
