Timeline

At least four weeks prior to the deadline

  • At this point, you should have a draft of your entire application, including budget, which can be sent to colleagues for final checking, advice and peer review. Internal peer review is a useful mechanism for providing prospective applicants with constructive advice about how the application might be improved and made more competitive, prior to submission.
  • With the UK Research Councils in particular being keen on receiving only the best proposals, ensuring high-quality submissions is a key to success. Therefore, a thorough internal process is required at this point in time, allowing enough time for review and iterations before the closing date.
  • Individual Schools and Departments have different mechanisms for providing advice and support in this regard. For an overview of the support and requirements in your own School, please refer to our section on Peer review.
