Course 2 - Bioinformatics for Geneticists
Course Directors: Gerome Breen and Richard Dobson
KINDLY NOTE THAT REGISTRATION FOR THIS COURSE IS NOW CLOSED.
This course will teach how to handle data and conduct basic analysis, QC and annotation with a particular focus on next generation sequencing. The course will consider methods for analysis of RNA-seq, exome/whole genome sequencing (DNA-seq), ChIP-seq, MeDIP-seq and exome chip analyses. It will cover the most common analysis packages and methods and how to apply systems biology approaches such as the Weighted Co-expression Network Analysis (taught by Prof Steve Horvath, UCLA) with some of these datasets.
Students will be introduced to the Unix command, the R stats package, web data resources, machine learning, pathway and network analysis. This course is suitable for post-doctoral researchers who wish to take charge of their own datasets.
Course fees: £600
KCL staff and students receive a reduced rate of £300.
