Following the Asian Tsunami on Boxing Day 2004, the College helped establish a mental health resource centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It had been set up by King’s staff who had founded the UK-Sri Lanka Trauma Group. The Centre was named ‘Samutthana’ – a Sanskrit word meaning reconciliation. The UK-Sri Lanka Trauma Group is supported by the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London.
