Research Excellence Travel Fellowships

The Institute of Psychiatry has launched a new Research Excellence Travel Fellowship scheme as part of its strategy towards developing outstanding early career researchers in the area of mental health and neurosciences. The Institute of Psychiatry is Europe’s largest centre for research and post-graduate education in psychiatry, psychology, basic and clinical neuroscience.

These awards will provide up to £5k to allow exceptional young scientists to visit the Institute to develop research proposals with world-class academic mentors that will position them strongly to seek prestigious personal fellowships from key research funding bodies. This will provide candidates with the opportunity to develop their career aspirations through working at an Institute that is internationally renowned for the quality of its research.

Applications are invited from outstanding post-doctoral researchers from any location world-wide. As a first step please explore the research interests of the Institute by reviewing the web pages of our academic departments http://www.kcl.ac.uk/iop/index.aspx and make contact with an academic member of staff that you have identified as working in area that interests you. This will initiate a dialogue about a potential area of research that you would like to develop into a proposal. Once we have identified you as an outstanding candidate we will consider potential sources of funding that you might work towards during a visit under the Research Excellence Travel Fellowship and discuss these with you. Then we would be very pleased to consider a formal application for a Research Excellence Travel Fellowship from you in collaboration with your Institute of Psychiatry academic mentor
