Vice-Dean of Education
As Vice-Dean (Education) at the Institute of Psychiatry, I’d like to personally welcome you to our site. My responsibility is to lead our education agenda, including developing an academic vision for both postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes.
Why should you study here? King's College London is one of the top 30 universities in the world (2011/12 QS World University Rankings) and the Institute of Psychiatry is internationally recognised as one of largest and most reputable postgraduate teaching and research centres in mental health related sciences. In 2011, King’s College was rated "University of the Year 2010/2011" by The Sunday Times, known globally as a prestigious and influential newspaper.
There are many other reasons, but I’d like to highlight that you’ll be studying in an institution that is highly committed to education and delivering an excellent student experience. Of course, you will be learning in a wonderful community of scholars, with the world leaders in their field. In addition, students have almost unrivalled opportunities in clinical training and research due to the Institute’s long relationship with the Maudsley Hospital, now the SLaM NHS Trust, with which we share a site. Finally, being part of the larger King’s community and the city of London offers so many different opportunities, both academic and social. I really hope you find the course you are looking for here at the Institute, and that you join us in making a difference in the world of mental health.
