Diabetes and Psychiatry
Professor Khalida Ismail leads the Diabetes and Psychiatry Research Group which is part of the Psychological Medicine Department at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and Diabetes Clinical Academic Groups of King's Health Partners (KHP) crossing the interface between psychiatry and medicine.
The group has a unique and internationally recognised collaboration with the Diabetes Research Group at KHP. Our research interests are in:
a) understanding the epidemiology and underlying mechanisms of the depression-diabetes link and related disorders.
b) developing and evaluating complex interventions to improve diabetes control and depression.
